ACC Big and Tall Apparel — XL–6XL, XLT–5XLT
The Atlantic Coast Conference is not the cozy regional league it started as — it is an 18-school league that now runs from Boston to the Bay Area. This page pulls together big & tall ACC apparel in one place: tees, sweatshirts, hoodies and jackets for every member school, in the extended sizes most team shops stop carrying. Whether your Saturday is in Death Valley, the Dean Dome or a brand-new ACC outpost in California, start here and find your team in a size that actually fits.
One warning before you shop from memory: the ACC you remember may not be the ACC that exists. Schools have moved in and out over the last decade, and older pages (this one included, before this rewrite) still list members who left years ago. The list below is the conference as it stands today.
The ACC in 2026: All 18 Member Schools
The ACC was founded in 1953 with seven schools, most of them in the Carolinas. It grew along the Eastern Seaboard for decades, then jumped the continent in 2024 when California, Stanford and SMU joined. Here is the full current membership:
- Boston College Eagles — a former Big East school that moved to the ACC in 2005.
- California Golden Bears — arrived from the Pac-12 in 2024, the league’s western anchor along with Stanford.
- Clemson Tigers — founding member and the conference’s modern football standard-bearer; Clemson big & tall apparel lives on its own team page.
- Duke Blue Devils — founding member, and half of the greatest rivalry in college basketball; see the Duke big & tall team page.
- Florida State Seminoles — joined in 1991 and immediately became a football power; Florida State big & tall gear is on its team page.
- Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets — Atlanta’s school, a member since 1979; Georgia Tech big & tall apparel is on its team page.
- Louisville Cardinals — joined in 2014, taking the spot Maryland vacated.
- Miami Hurricanes — arrived from the Big East in 2004; Miami big & tall gear is on its team page.
- NC State Wolfpack — founding member and the third point of the Research Triangle rivalry.
- North Carolina Tar Heels — founding member; Tobacco Road runs through Chapel Hill; North Carolina big & tall apparel is on its team page.
- Notre Dame Fighting Irish — an ACC member in most sports since 2013; football remains independent, with a scheduling partnership that brings the Irish to ACC stadiums.
- Pittsburgh Panthers — a former Big East school that joined in 2013.
- SMU Mustangs — the 2024 arrival from Dallas that wasted no time reaching the ACC football title game.
- Stanford Cardinal — joined with Cal in 2024; the Big Game rivalry now lives in the ACC.
- Syracuse Orange — another former Big East school, in the ACC since 2013.
- Virginia Cavaliers — a member since 1953 (the league’s first expansion school); our rebuilt Virginia Cavaliers big & tall page carries the Wahoos’ extended sizes.
- Virginia Tech Hokies — arrived from the Big East in 2004; “Enter Sandman” in Blacksburg is an ACC tradition now.
- Wake Forest Demon Deacons — founding member and the league’s smallest school, still punching up.
Notice a pattern: Syracuse, Pitt, Louisville, Boston College, Miami, Virginia Tech and Notre Dame all came out of the old Big East — our Big East big & tall hub covers the schools that stayed behind. Looking for Maryland? The Terrapins left for the Big Ten in 2014 — find them on our Big Ten big & tall hub. You can also browse the Big 12 big & tall hub and the SEC big & tall hub.

ACC Sizes, Listed One by One
ACC apparel on the pages linked from this hub runs in extended sizes, listed individually so you can search the exact term you use: XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL, 6XL, and in tall lengths XLT, 2XLT, 3XLT, 4XLT, 5XLT. If you shop by the short spelling, the same sizes appear as 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X and 6X — a 3X tee and a 3XL tee are the same garment.
One honest note, carried over from this page’s original copy because it is still true: the deepest tall runs are not equal at every school. The 4XLT and 5XLT lengths are stocked most reliably for the larger programs — the Clemsons, Florida States and North Carolinas of the league. Check your team’s page for its exact list rather than assuming all 18 schools carry all 11 sizes.
4X, 4XL and 4XLT: What the Sizing Terms Mean
Shoppers search these terms interchangeably, so here is the short version. 4X and 4XL are the same size — two labels for one cut, and brands use both. The T means tall: a 4XLT is a 4XL body with extra length in the torso and sleeves, made for taller frames rather than wider ones. If you have been searching for a 6XLT, that label does not exist in this range — width tops out at 6XL and tall at 5XLT, so a tall fan who needs maximum width pairs the 6XL width with the longest tall option their school stocks.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which schools are in the ACC now?
Eighteen: Boston College, California, Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, NC State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, SMU, Stanford, Syracuse, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. Maryland is no longer a member — the Terrapins moved to the Big Ten in 2014, which is why older ACC pages listing them are out of date.
Is Notre Dame really an ACC school?
Yes, for most sports — Notre Dame joined in 2013 for everything except football and hockey. Irish football stays independent but plays a rotating set of ACC opponents every season, so Notre Dame gear belongs on an ACC hub.
What sizes does ACC big & tall apparel come in?
The range on this hub is XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL and 6XL, plus tall sizes XLT, 2XLT, 3XLT, 4XLT and 5XLT. The same sizes are often written 2X through 6X. Not every school stocks every size, so check your team’s own page for its confirmed list.
Is 4X the same size as 4XL?
Yes. 4X and 4XL are two spellings of the same size, and retailers mix them freely. The letter that changes the fit is the T: 4XLT adds length for tall fans on top of the 4XL cut.
Where do I find gear for a school that left the ACC?
Start with the conference it plays in now: Maryland is covered on our Big Ten hub, and our Big East, Big 12 and SEC hubs are all linked above for cross-shopping.
